The TREK Experiment

(Time Reversal Experiment with Kaons)

TREK is an experiment to search for violation of time reversal invariance (T-violation) in the kaon decay of K+→ π0μ+ν planned at the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC). The transverse muon polarization (PT) will be precisely measured with the TREK detector using the Superconductiong Toroidal Magnet. This quantity is sensitive also to CP volation origins other than the Standard Model. An experimental sensitivity of ΔPT = 10-4 is expected. During the low power period of the accelerator, we plan to perform the E36 experiment , which tests the lepton universality in kaon two-body decays and looks for a heavy neutrino.
