Tracker (GEM)

We will add newly-constructed planar tracking elements (C1) at the outer surface of the muon hole of the CsI(Tl) calorimeter which will be based on GEM technology. A GEM detector for charged particle tracking represent a new generation of positionsensitive counters, which is reasonably cheap, radiation-hard, and well suited to be operated in high-rate environments.
